The Franconian wine region is always worth a visit!
At the centre of Germany, at the heart of Europe: That's Würzburg! The young and lively university city has plenty to offer for everyone, old or young. Wine is as much a part of Würzburg as the river Main, along the banks of which it grows. Walther von der Vogelweide was buried in Würzburg. Works of famous renaissance artist Tilman Riemenschneider are on show, among other places, at the Mainfränkisches Museum at Marienberg fortress. And don't miss the Residence, the UNESCO world heritage site - etc., etc., etc. But the surroundings are just as marvellous: Veitshöchheim with its enchanted rococo gardens, the Main loop around Volkach and the many small towns and villages with medieval flair nestled on the Main river banks, for instance.
